A committee under the Transport Ministry will look into recommendations on actions which can be taken against Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) who were on duty when Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 went missing.
Its minister Anthony Loke said following the report by the Malaysian International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team, he had instructed the ministry’s secretary-general to set up the internal committee.
Loke also said some complications are expected as the ATCs during the incident, served under what was then the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
However, the DCA has now been replaced by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), which is a different entity.
In a media briefing on the1,500-page report yesterday, the head of the investigation team, Datuk Kok Soo Chon revealed that ATCs in Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City did not act according to standard operating procedures the fateful day on March 8, 2014.
This had caused a significant delay in detecting the disappearance of Flight MH370.
