Out of all the mainstream shounen : One Peace, Bleach, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Hitman Reborn, Fairy Tail...Gintama has the best opening and ending songs. I couldn't find a single one I didn't like in Gintama. But even if other anime have some good songs they always had some I didn't like at all.

Gintama 4 + 6.5 = 10.5 Naruto 7 + 7.2 = 14.2 Fairy Tail 11 + 8.0 = 19.0 For me it's not just music!! It has a lot to do with the visuals and a lot of Gintama is very bleak and honestly boring to watch yeah sure the music is great but that's not what an opening means to me in terms of enjoyment! That combo could make anyone cry. Long post: What I like about Gintama's story is that even the comedy and parodies seemed nonsense, almost everything since the first episode had meaning with the final arcs. It does follow the shonen plot but it executes it with a level of uniqueness. The power of friendship trope (cliched) doesn't channel into a sudden surge of a newfound power, but helps keep up the character's motivation even if they're completely bruised all over, and Japanese animation likes to play at the person's resolve being a decisive factor towards victory. The villains that become allies (usual shonen trope) aren't portrayed as some person who lost their way and mind and desired destruction, they are instead selfish but sensitive creatures who only wanted to protect what they loved, and had their own ways of coping; they didn't turn to darkness from their own pain and suffering, they're just crying in a way that doesn't shed tears, there is no good or bad side, just people who are dealing with their own problems in their own ways and which will get in conflict with other characters one way or the other; and you can say it's also a parody, a parody of the reality before us. There is no evil, just different ways of viewing good. Takasugi, Kamui, Hosen, and Utsuro are prime examples, for they suffered from Grief, Regret, Envy, and Trauma, respectively. Lastly, what shonen definitely likes to do, that is kinda subtle, is emphasize the bonds made between characters. Like any other, they're made with lighthearted comedy and skits before any big fight or serious story arc. What Gintama does is place that lighthearted comedy WITHIN the seriousness, and they don't let comedy interfere when the situation calls for it, and lets viewers feel the pain, just like showing villain flashbacks in-depth. The comedy within the seriousness still blends in well, and it's there not only to have some laughs before the awesome parts, but it's kind of continuing the developing bonds that they're all sharing. Gintama, is in essence, mainly comedy and parody, and they don't let you forget that even with all the action, emotion, and the seriousness.

The scene at 19:05 where the characters jump down from above and and rush in eventually includes 1 more character in version 2, for a total of 4 characters in that shot, which this one didn't even have, which makes this version 1. Not to mention that this scene doesn't even happen at this point in the song. Another good example of how this is out of order is the first shot you showed of OP18 with the red haired dude, Kamui, jumping in to fight Umibozi, and then it shifts to Umibozu taking off his goggles, then it it shifts to the scraggly haired dude, then he looks up, yells at nothing, and then the scene transitions to something else. In both versions of that opening, it starts with shot of Umibozu lifting his goggles, looking up, shifting to scraggly haired dude, and the scraggly haired dude looking up towards and yelling at Kamui, the red haired dude, and _then_ Kamui jumps down to punch Umibozu. The only reason I notice all this is because I've watched these openings over and over and loved the series, and OP 18 in particular synced _incredibly_ well with the visuals.

469. Goku Sonfan: To be honest, I am EXTREMELY biased towards Gintama, so asking for my opinion isn't really a good idea. I'm just here to recommend Gintama to those who haven't watched it. . . Reason 1:Comedy. That's it. Gintama is mainly known for it's comedy and references to other series, so if you're an avid fan of comedy, then you're going to love Gintama. Every episode is sprinkled with comedy, even the most serious and heartbreaking arcs. While some may consider this to be a negative, I personally think it's a positive. From a general perspective, many will claim that comedy amidst the drama and action can kill the moment and climax, Gintama uses comedy in a creative manner. Instead of killing the moment, Gintama uses its comedy in order to build onto characters and their interactions with one another, getting the audience to understand how close they are. In particular, the comedy aspect is there to help the audience feel a closer connection to the characters and mourn for whats to come (not gonna spoil).. Reason 2: The actionWhile yes, the action isn't as spectacular as Fairy Tail or as better choreographed as Naruto, Gintamas action scenes have emotional drive in them. Every action scene is either meant to be for comedy purposes or for drama purposes, but nevertheless adds onto the characters. Furthermore, in each action scene you can feel the characters emotions and struggles as they fight their foe/problem, specifically their emotional problems. You come to understand why they fight and their drive. However, that's not to say that Naruto and Fairy Tail doesn't have these..Reason3: DramaOh boy, this part is very juicy. At the end of the day, all of these aspects add up to the most crucial and climatic point, their resolve. In each and every (serious) arc, Gintoki (or some other characters) are forced to make a decision that will impact their lives and/or future. We get to see them struggle to make their decisions, the pain they are feeling as a result of being forced to choose, and the (more often untimely) results. As the episodes pile up, we come to understand why the characters do what they do, how they accomplish it, and through what means. As such, the feelings we harbor towards each and every character builds, even the comedy characters. Whether it be a tragic death, being beaten up, or just joking around, these aspect of Gintama helps foster the sense of camaraderie between each character, and the feelings we hold towards the characters and the tragedies that they face. .Conclusion: Watch GintamaYes, the first few episodes are pretty dull, but I would recommend watching through them anyways, it'll help make the show more rewarding. Plus, Gintama is about character development, so even a filler episode (which is pretty much every episode) contributes some way to the main story (whether it be character development, adds newer characters, or just makes you love them more). Throughout my whole anime watching experience, I've never seen an anime as great as this. It's mixture of comedy, drama, and action makes the show more loving and daring, and its constant joke about being copyrighted is even more hilarious. Even shows the likes of Steins;Gate, Re;Zero, Dragonball Z, and Grand Blue are outmatched by Gintama (some are slightly out of Gintamas range of greatness) and these are just some examples. Gintama is a show that changed my perspectives and helped me develop a lucid sense of helping others, relaxing more often, and not to stress out over the little things. Honestly speaking, I absolutely adore Gintama even though I once criticized it for being a show with a "bad plot" (I didn't know what I was talking about back then). However, this is merely my opinion.

Because mine definitely was BUT I can't tell you how many tears I've shed during the much discussed Shogun Assassination arc. I don't know how, and quite frankly you probably shouldn't, but somehow Gintama makes you care for the characters so much more than even Naruto manages. So, if you'll ever have the time give Gintama a chance, it's absolute gold.

Really. 10 Gintama, with Naruto coming really close (maybe tone doesnt fit, but Shippuden 10 is a really fun op) 11 Gintama (uncontested, also fifth best opening of 2012) 12 Gintama (uncontested, also best opening of 2012) 13 Naruto and Gintama (same as Shippuden 6, everyone loves Gintama 13) 14 Fairy Tail, with Gintama quite close 15 Fairy Tail, though i feel really tempted to give another triple tie (btw third near perfect FT op) 16 Fairy Tail and Naruto (Gintama 16 is among the few Gintama ops i directly dont like) 17 Gintama and Naruto 18 Fairy Tail (kinda average really, but opening 18 of Shippuden and Gintama arent really good imo) 19 Naruto. Imagery ond the v2 and v3 are superb (also the song) 20 Naruto... and Gintama, bc i know nostalgia is really in effect with this Naruto op) 21 ... Gintama, followed really close by... most classic Naruto ops are really really good. Maybe its hype bc Gintama 21 is quite recent... nah, this song kicks ass So finally Fairy Tail 7 Naruto Shippuden 12 Gintama 12 (counting the triple tie even if it doesnt affect the end result) Well, this was a really fun to make comment, the end result was almost the same

Fairy Tail had a couple gems, but largely couldn't keep up after it's first opening (Strike Back was my fave) Naruto dominated in the beginning until the quality dropped and things fell apart (funny enough, the openings got meh right around when the plot did. After Lovers... only Silhouette really made an impression on me) Gintama didn't start out too strong, but it was consistent and dominated the end as it only got better and better (nothing bad to say about Gintama, Op 13 is my fav)

Maximus DxD: Well, Fairy Tail was good in the start, then the plot and power scale don't make sense anymore, and the author doesn't take the time to make a good fight, which is all it is about as a shonen. There is just fist fight rather than magic, so no for a shonen it isn't that good, and the comedy, plot or adventure are poor, there was potential but it was inexploited. Its concept was one of my favorite, but I'm just disappointed since the arc of the Tower of Heaven, though it was "ok" up to the arc of Hades. Even the animation as an anime isn't good (example: arc tartaros). In the end, it cannot be said it is a masterpiece and thus not the best, but it is simple and enjoyable if you don't think much about the story, but the fights for the last arc (which is beginning to be animated) will be very very disappointing despite the potential.
