You can't even get out of bed these days without hearing about Caitlyn Jenner - aka the former Bruce Jenner.
On one hand, it feels very much like an overexposed media personality that just can't get out of the spotlight. On the other hand, it may be a defining moment in our culture.
Transgender issues are slowly becoming understood by the general public. 40% of transgender people say that they have considered suicide at some point in their lives. The struggle they go through is very much real. And maybe it takes an overexposed media personality to make that number go down.
In that case, I argue that she does matter and that this is an important moment in human tolerance.
